After School Swim Club - Information

Our pool is to be found alongside the Junior School . It measures approximately 7m by 15m, depth 0.85 to 0.95metres and we only allow 20 swimmers in at a time. It is kept at a comfortable 28-30 centigrade. There are boys and girls changing rooms and easy access to a nearby toilet. Under 5s need to be accompanied in the water.

Membership

A membership application form is available from the box in the entrance hall of both schools. Membership is open to all the families of children attending either Arborfield, Newland & Barkham CE Junior School or The Coombes Infant & Nursery School.

Members may swim as often as they wish whilst the pool is open.

Members may apply for after school swimming lessons.

Members may also hire the pool privately, providing they can arrange to have two lifeguards on duty, one of whom must have a Shallow Water Certificate (see below), and the other at least a First Aid Certificate.

Opening times

After school, during term time, from the week beginning 26 th April to 1 st October, from 3.45 to 4.45pm.

Cost

There is an all-inclusive charge of £25 per family for membership for the season, which allows you to swim as often as you like at no further cost.

Swimming lessons are available to members at an additional charge of £25 for a 5 week course of half hour lessons.

Private hire of the pool is available to members at an additional charge of £25 per hour on weekday evenings and £30 per hour at weekends.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming Lessons will be available to members only, at an additional cost. These will be run by Jenny Poore, the Coombes specialist PE teacher and will be for non-swimmers and improving swimmers. These are generally run on Mondays and Tuesdays at 4.45pm. If interested, please tick the appropriate column and we will send you further details.

Pool supervision

We are totally dependant on voluntary poolside help by parents. Two supervisors are necessary per session, one with a Shallow Water Certificate and the other with a minimum of a First Aid Certificate. We organize a Shallow Water Course every year, and the resulting certificate is valid for 3 years. The course takes just one evening to complete and is free of charge if you agree to supervise a swim club session on a weekly basis this summer. If you would like to do the course without committing yourself to joining the lifeguard rota, the cost to you would be £35. Gaining a certificate might be useful should you wish to hire the pool privately. If you would be interested in gaining a Shallow Water Certificate, please contact Fiona Eames at school.
